Community Center Policies
Facility & Kitchen Use Policy**
One Memorial Drive, Montvale, New Jersey
I. Purpose
The Montvale Senior Citizen Community Center exists primarily to support programs sponsored by the Borough of Montvale. Use by outside non‑profit organizations is permitted but must comply with all policies outlined below.
The Borough of Montvale reserves the right to amend or waive any portion of this policy at its discretion.
II. Facility Use Regulations
A. Priority Use
Programs sponsored by the Borough of Montvale—or jointly sponsored with other entities—have first priority. Certain time periods may be reserved exclusively for Borough programs.
B. Eligibility for Use
The Center may be used by outside groups only under the following conditions:

Permitted Users
Civic, educational, cultural, and other community‑related non‑profit organizations may request use of the facility. -
Prohibited Uses – Social Events
The Center may not be used for private social events, including but not limited to:
• Birthday parties
• Graduation parties
• Retirement celebrations
• Similar personal gatherings -
Prohibited Users & Activities – For‑Profit or Political Purposes
The Center may not be used by for‑profit groups, businesses, or individuals for:- Fundraising events, projects, or programs
- Events involving sales, service offerings, or solicitation of clients
- Meetings or events held by political parties or interests for the sole purpose of raising funds or soliciting contributions
III. Kitchen Use Policy
A. Application & Deposit
- A facility/kitchen use application must be submitted at least 14 business days before the event.
- A $200 deposit (check only) payable to the Borough of Montvale is required if the kitchen will be used.
- The deposit will be refunded in full or in part after inspection by the DPW Superintendent or designee.
- The Borough may retain all or part of the deposit to cover cleaning or restoration costs.
- Organizations found negligent may be denied future access.
B. Responsibilities of Users
All groups using the kitchen or bringing refreshments must:
- Leave the kitchen clean and in its original condition
- Turn off all lights before leaving
- Ensure all doors are securely locked
- Return the kitchen and front door keys to the lockbox located near the facility entrance immediately after the event
Lost or damaged keys will incur a $50 replacement fee.
IV. Prohibited Substances
The use of tobacco products and alcohol is strictly prohibited anywhere within the Montvale Senior Citizen Community Center.
