Montvale Office of Emergency Management Overview
The Montvale Office of Emergency Management (OEM) plans for, coordinates, and supports the borough’s response to natural and man‑made emergencies. OEM works with local, county, and state partners to protect residents, restore services, and reduce future risks.
Core responsibilities
- Planning — identify hazards and prepare contingency plans.
- Response — coordinate the hands‑on, initial actions during an emergency.
- Recovery — restore services and help the community return to normal.
- Mitigation — implement measures to prevent or reduce the impact of future events.

Volunteer programs
Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service R.A.C.E.S.
R.A.C.E.S. supports emergency radio communications during local, regional, or national incidents. Licensed amateur radio operators who want to help or learn more should contact OEM.
Community Emergency Response Team CERT
CERT trains residents in basic disaster response skills — fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and basic first aid — so neighbors can help each other after an emergency.
