Recycling Guidelines

Comingled Recycling

Accepted items include:

Plastics labeled #1–7
Clear & colored glass bottles and jars
Aluminum, steel, and tin cans (including aerosol cans)
Aluminum foil and trays

All items must be rinsed and free of food residue.

Paper & Cardboard

Newspapers, magazines, junk mail, office paper, paperback books, telephone books
Paper shopping bags, packaging, cardboard, corrugated cardboard
Newspapers should be tied; cardboard should be flattened
Do NOT recycle cardboard beverage containers (milk cartons, juice boxes, etc.)

Common Yard Waste Issues: Do’s & Don’ts

Do

Place grass in reusable containers under 50 lbs
Bundle branches and sticks
Follow size limits for branches
Use paper leaf bags only during leaf season

Don’t

Use large landscaper pails
Place yard waste in plastic bags
Expect large amounts of yard waste to be collected in one day
Bring logs or stumps to the recycling center
Place logs or large branches at the curb (they will not be collected)

Electronics Recycling

The following items are not collected curbside and must be brought to the Montvale Recycling Center:

Televisions
Computers, laptops, tablets
Printers, fax machines
Stereos, DVD players, VCRs
Cell phones, answering machines
iPads, iPods
